Using Overdrive and/or Libby

Using OverDrive with devices such as Androids, Apples, and Kindles

You will need:

What to do:

1. Install the OverDrive app from your device’s app store.
2. Open the app and follow the sign in steps using your library card and pin.
3. Find and choose your digital library using the zip code (it should be the Southwest Michigan Digital Library).
4. Once your digital library collection is connected to your account you can go to it and it will have you sign in again using your library card and pin. (You can have the site save your library log in to save time when logging back in later).
5. Borrow a title. Available books will say AVAILABLE at the top of their image while unavailable books will say WAIT LIST and prompt you to PLACE A HOLD on the title.
6. Once you have borrowed a title a box will appear that will give you the choice between Read Now With Kindle and Download
   1. Use Read Now With Kindle if you are using a Kindle device or want to read on the Kindle app
   2. Choosing Download will save the title to the Overdrive app’s Bookshelf (all EPUB and Audio Books will be saved to the Bookshelf)
7. The loan period for books and audio books is two weeks and items return themselves automatically

Using Libby with devices such as Androids, Apples, and Kindles

You will need:

Your device
An internet connection
Your library card
Your library pin (the last four digits of your phone number)

What to do:

1. Install the Libby app from your device’s app store (if it is not available on your device use the OverDrive app instead).
2. Open the app and follow the sign in steps using your library card and pin.
3. Find and choose your digital library using the zip code (it should be the Southwest Michigan Digital Library).
4. Borrow a title.
5. Your borrowed titles will be listed on your Shelf under Loans.
   1. Click on your borrowed title and click Read With, you can choose Kindle Apps & Devices or Libby
   2. Choose Open Audiobook or Open Magazine to access those borrowed titles
